a SUSTAINABLE LIVING & PEACE CENTRE

Our small Intentional Community has a shared vision to create a way of sustainable living where sharing, cooperation and mutual exchange are the motivational philosophies. This vision will also extend to our programme of Holistic Courses and Workshops offered to the general public.

Regarding sustainable living, we think this vision must be central in achieving it. Learning to achieve it must involve these kinds of relationships with each other and with the whole natural world. So our interaction with the greater world takes place through our current and future programme of holistic experiential workshops, courses and retreats, all essentially about exchange of knowledge and experience, often somehow-related to the natural world, from which we can learn so much by close observation.

Broadly this programme is aimed to enable people to live more satisfying ecological and economically sustainable ways of life in rural areas of Devon or elsewhere.

At present, there are two families and four individuals involved in this Community as future Residential Members, and about six more as Associate Members. Each Member has a £1 share, but can invest whatever sum they can afford as Loanstock, receiving a reasonable interest. Extra Associate Investor Members are very welcome.

We hope to purchase our Centre House and Land near Totnes later this year, having found a suitable property*! This Community is Registered as a Mutual Not-For-Profit Loanstock Limited Company with the FSA (London), and will soon become affiliated to the Permaculture Association (UK) as a Charity. Most of our projected Courses will be subsidised by Charities, National Lottery and Local Authorities. Our Business Plan includes costings and likely grants for about 9 courses and retreats.

(* The best regarding price, location, planning approvals and land and outbuildings which we have found so far is Higher Grove, Tigley, about 3 miles outside of Totnes, on a hill with splendid views of Dartmoor and Tigley Church and Valley. Price is £450,000.)
